that's flavorful, smoky, and perfect as a starter or appetizer. You can make it on a grill, in a tandoor, oven, or even on a stovetop tawa.
๐ถ️ Desi Tandoori Paneer Recipe
๐งบ Ingredients:
For the Marinade:
250-300 g paneer (cut into thick cubes)
3–4 tbsp thick curd (hung curd or Greek yogurt works best)
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp mustard oil (for that smoky flavor)
1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder (for color)
½ tsp red chili powder (for heat)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp chaat masala
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
Salt to taste
Optional: few drops of red/orange food color (if desired)
Veggies for Skewering (Optional):
Onion petals
Capsicum chunks (red/green/yellow)
Tomato slices (firm ones)
๐ฝ️ Instructions:
1. Marinate the Paneer:
In a bowl, mix curd, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, mustard oil, and all the spices.
Add paneer cubes and optional veggies.
Mix gently to coat everything well. Be careful not to break the paneer.
Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight for best flavor).
2. Cooking Methods:
Option A – Oven/Grill:
Preheat oven to 220°C (430°F).
Thread paneer and veggies onto skewers.
Place on a greased tray or wire rack.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping once in between.
Broil/grill at high for 2–3 mins at the end to get charred edges.
Option B – Tandoor/BBQ Grill:
Skewer and grill over medium flame, basting with butter or ghee occasionally until charred.
Option C – Tawa/Stovetop:
Heat a non-stick or cast iron tawa with some oil.
Place paneer and veggies. Cook on medium heat till golden and charred, turning occasionally.
๐ฟ To Serve:
Sprinkle some chaat masala
Squeeze fresh lemon juice
Serve hot with mint chutney and onion
