🥟Steamed Momos Recipe

 Here's a simple and delicious Steamed Momos Recipe you can try at home. These are Tibetan-style dumplings, commonly filled with vegetables or meat and served with spicy chutney.




🥟 Steamed Momos Recipe


📝 Ingredients


For the Dough:


2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)


1/2 tsp salt


Water (as needed)


1 tsp oil (optional)



For the Filling (Vegetarian option):


1 cup finely chopped cabbage


1/2 cup finely chopped carrots


1/2 cup finely chopped onions or spring onions


1 tbsp finely chopped garlic


1 tbsp finely chopped ginger


1–2 green chilies (optional, finely chopped)


1 tbsp soy sauce


Salt to taste


1/2 tsp black pepper


1 tbsp oil





(For Chicken momos, replace veggies with 1 cup minced chicken and cook the filling for 5–6 minutes before stuffing.)




👩‍🍳 Instructions


1. Prepare the Dough:


In a bowl, mix flour and salt.


Gradually add water and knead into a soft, firm dough.


Cover and let it rest for 20–30 minutes.



2. Prepare the Filling:


Heat oil in a pan.


Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for 30 seconds.


Add onions and sauté until soft.


Add cabbage, carrots, and cook on high heat for 2–3 minutes.


Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it cool.



3. Shape the Momos:


Divide dough into small balls. Roll each into a 4–5 inch circle.


Place 1 tbsp of filling in the center.


Fold and pleat the edges to seal (half-moon or round shape).



4. Steam the Momos:


Grease a steamer or place a banana leaf/parchment paper to prevent sticking.


Arrange momos with space between each.


Steam for 10–12 minutes on medium heat.
