flavorful Bhendi Masala (Okra Masala) recipe

Here's a simple and flavorful Bhendi Masala (Okra Masala) recipe — a popular Indian dish made with okra, onions, tomatoes, and spices:

๐ŸŒฟ Ingredients:

For the Bhindi (Okra):

250g bhindi (okra/ladyfinger), washed, dried, and cut into 1–2 inch pieces

2 tbsp oil

Salt to taste

For the Masala:

2 tbsp oil

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 onion, finely chopped

1 green chili, slit (optional)

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

2 tomatoes, finely chopped

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coriander powder

½ tsp cumin powder

1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

½ tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

๐Ÿณ Instructions:

Step 1: Cook the Bhindi

1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan.

2. Add chopped bhindi and a pinch of salt. Sautรฉ on medium flame until bhindi is cooked and no longer sticky (about 8–10 minutes). Stir occasionally.

3. Once done, remove and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Masala

1. In the same pan, heat 2 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

2. Add chopped onion and green chili. Sautรฉ until onions are golden brown.

3. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.

4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.

5. Add turmeric, coriander, cumin, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the oil starts to separate from the masala.

Step 3: Combine

1. Add the cooked bhindi to the masala. Mix gently so the bhindi doesn’t break.

2. Cook for 3–5 more minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.

3. Sprinkle garam masala and give it a final stir.

Step 4: Garnish & Serve

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with roti, paratha, or rice.
